So we are well into the deer season and I've not posted anything.  So far I've missed only one deer this year! Just so happens it was a big 8 point at Holla Bend! I'll be back after him this weekend.  Deer camp this year I did not see squat but my buddy Mitch killed a nice young 8 point!  We did have some excitement tho at camp and who said deer camp is just about killing?

Opening Day!

Alright peeps its been a while! Little update I did not get a chance to go dove hunting this year.  I wasn't thinking when I signed up to work a lot of overtime during hunting season.  Believe me it won't happen again!  Anyway its finally archery season!!!  So far I've not seen a buck yet but did have some does come into bow range.

Well we've been running game cameras and hung some treestands and so far from what I can tell this might be my season to date!  We got some very impressive bucks on the cameras!  Speaking of impressive bucks my boy Nick whacked a big naughty freak with his bow!
Nick with his big Nebraska buck!

That's about the only exciting thing so far.  I'm waiting to really hit the woods hard until about mid October and Early November.  Here is my hunt opening day.

Okay folks I know it's been a while but lets face it.... It's to hot to fish and I can't legally kill anything right now.  The official start to bow season is getting closer and closer as well as dove season.

Dove season to me is a bitter sweet thing.  You know the old saying that "If it flies it dies"?  Well that technically does not apply to me.  It's more like "If it flies it lives"! So even tho come dove season I'll be throwing lead there way, I'll still be going home practically empty handed.  I'll give you an example.  Two years ago I went dove hunting with some buddies of mine in Pea Ridge.  It was one of those amazing mornings to be hunting.  It was the best bird hunting experience I've ever been apart of.  I've never seen so many doves in my life before.  Everybody was slayin em' while my shoulder was about to fall off!  I shot 85 times and only hit 5 birds! I was then only one who did not get their limit.  It was still a blast tho and my first good dove hunt to be apart of.  Honestly I wouldn't care if I killed anything because the group of guys I went with had me rolling laughing the whole time.  Here are a few photos from the hunt.

Since it's getting close to bow season I think I'm going to run out to the woods this week since the fiance is out of town and put up some game cameras.  I love doing that and finding out what you got on the camera.  So hopefully the next post will be of a big freak nasty buck on my game cameras!

Bye

I never in a million years thought I'd be doing something like this.... Blogging? Honestly I didn't even know what it was or what it entailed before I met my fiance.  She recently started blogging and it got me thinking that I could do this.  Instead of writing about girl things I decided to do this to share with everybody what I love the most, (next to my fiance of course), the great outdoors.  I wont blog about my everyday life and work things because lets be honest my work is crazy and I need a break.

I've been hunting and fishing for as long as I can remember.  My best friend Jay has talked about writing a book about all of our outdoor adventures for a long time now.  That is another reason why I decided to do this was to share a lot of our stories.  Unfortunately a lot of the stories involve me doing something stupid or incredibly embarrassing, (which I will share in due time), but this first blog is to just give a back ground of whats to come.

So with all that said I'm going to blog about my fishing and hunting trips.  I'll post videos of my hunts, (I love to video my own hunts), and post all kinds of photos.  I'll even eventually tell you about the infamous October 1, 2009 opening day of bow season story.  I'll give you a hint.  It involves hunting, taco bell, and poor ole me in a tree stand.

I should also tell everybody what my family calls me when it comes to hunting.  They call me the Supreme Commander.  The reason for this is because in a one week time frame I successfully missed 4 bucks with my bow.  Three in a two day period.  So my uncles and my dad decided to commemorate the event by making me a plaque and a pink arrow to embarrass me.  So now that every time someone in the family misses a deer they get the pink arrow.  Lets just say that if I would have killed one of those bucks my dad, brother, and me would have all had one hanging on the wall that season but leave it to me to screw it up.

My dad and brother got these and instead I got.....

The pink arrow and the Supreme Commander plaque.

Luckily I have time to tell you about my bird hunting experiences because hunting season isn't for a while but that will have to be in another blog.  I think I'll just start off with the basics in this first blog because honestly I cant believe i'm still doing this.  Some people have clever ways to end their blogs but I cant think of any so......Bye.
